Who has to take the Life in the UK test?
Anyone applying for indefinite leave to remain (settlement) or British citizenship who is aged 18 to 64. People under 18, people aged 65 or over, and people with a long-term physical or mental condition confirmed by a doctor are exempt.
How do I book the Life in the UK test?
Book online at https://www.gov.uk/life-in-the-uk-test. You must book at least 3 days ahead, choose one of the test centres in the UK, and bring the same photo ID you used to book.
What happens if I fail the Life in the UK test?
You can take the test again. You must wait 7 days before rebooking and pay the fee again. There is no limit on attempts.
Does the Life in the UK test pass result expire?
No. Once you pass, the result is valid for any later settlement or citizenship application.
What is the test based on?
The official handbook "Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents (3rd edition)". Every question comes from that book: values and principles, what the UK is, its history, society and culture, and government, law and your role.

What does "Sticky" mean?
A question is Sticky once you have answered it right from memory across spaced repeats — it has stuck. The goal is to make all 404 questions Sticky.
How does the readiness score work?
It is the share of the whole question bank you have locked into memory, weighted by how well you recall each question. It climbs as questions become Sticky and tells you plainly whether you're ready, almost ready, or should keep training.
How much does Until It Sticks cost?
Nothing right now: while Until It Sticks is in beta, all 404 questions and unlimited mock exams are free. When the beta ends, one payment of £4.99 unlocks everything for good. No subscription.
Does Until It Sticks work offline?
Yes. It is a web app you can add to your home screen. Your progress is saved on the device, and syncs to your account when you sign in.
